Lead lined doors and frames are used in countless facilities across the world. Lead is effective in scattering gamma rays and x-rays which makes lead lined doors and frames ideal for medical facility use. Republic's lead lined doors look and feel like normal hollow metal doors which allow medical facilities to keep a consistent look between offices and radiology rooms.

Lead Lined Doors and Frames Technical Data

Doors:
  • Lead Thickness: 1/16 inch standard (consult factory for other thickness)
  • Edge Seam Construction: Visible seam (Optional continuously welded seamless or intermittently welded seamless)
  • Thickness: 1 3/4 inch
  • Actual Door Size: Door undersized from nominal by 1/4 inch width and 7/8 inch height. Standard undercut is 3/4 inch.
  • Hinge Rail and Reinforcement: Hinge edge is non-beveled and reinforced with a continuous 10 or 16 gage steel channel projection welded at a maximum 5 inches on center.
  • Lock Rail: Lock edge is non-beveled and reinforced with a continuous 16 or 14 gage steel channel projection welded at a maximum 5 inches on center. (Beveled lock edge 1/8 inch in 2 inches optional.)
  • Top Channel: Top channel is a flush 16 gage channel, projection welded at a maximum 2 1/2 inches on center.
  • Bottom Channel: Bottom Channel is inverted 16 gage steel channel, projection welded at a maximum 2 1/2 inches on center
  • Cores Available: Steel Stiffened Core
  • Face Skins: Cold Rolled Steel or Galvannealed, 18, 16, or 14 gage
  • Closer Reinforcement (optional): When closer reinforcement requested 14 gage standard and 12 gage is optional. (18 inches x 6 inches)
  • Size Availabilty: Singles - Maximum 5 feet x 10 feet (5'0" x 10'0"), Pairs - Maximum 10 feet x 10 feet (10'0" x 10'0")
  • SDI 100 Level / Model: Level 2-4 and Model 1-2 (Maximum Duty Performance Level A and B)
  • Fire Label Range: Maximum 1 1/2 hour
  • Universal Standard / Heavy Weight Hinge: Hinge fillers are used allowing for an easy modification from standard to heavy weight hinge preparations.
  • Handing Design: Non-Handed standard (optional handed)
  • Hinge Backset: 1/4 inch
Frames:
  • Frame Thickness: Made for standard door 1 /34 inch
  • Gages: 16 or 14 gage (12 gage available with coped corner connections for welding)
  • Faces: 2 inch standard
  • Standard Rabbets: 1 3/8 inch (actual dimension 1 9/16 inch), 1 3/4 inch (actual dimension 1 15/16 inch). Rabbet dimension is 3/16 inch greater than the door thickness
  • Stop: 5/8 inch standard
  • Closer Reinforcement (Optional): 1 3/8 inch x 14 inch x 12 gage plate: 12 gage Snap-In, or 12 inch long x 12 gage sleeve.
  • Size Availability: Maximum size 5 feet x 10 feet (5'0" x 10'0") Single, Maximum size 10 feet x 10 feet (10'0" x 10'0") Double
  • Fire Lable Range: Maximum 1 1/2 hour
  • Universal Standard / Heavy Weight Hinge: Frames for 1 3/4 inch doors shall have a 9 gage steel hinge reinforcement plate, projection welded with provisions for 4 1/2 inch x 4 1/2 inch template hinges. Hinge plate is designed to be modified to accept a heavy weight hinge by removing four projections
  • Strike Prep: Frames for 1 3/4 inch doors shall have a 14 gage steel strike reinforcement plate, extruded and formed to the equivalent of 10 gage, projection welded with provisions for Universal ANSI A115.1 or ANSI A115.2 strike (4 7/8 inches)
  • Hinge Backset: 5/16 inch
