DE-BR Bullet Resistant doors and frames are available in 8 levels of bullet resistance, ranging from 9 mm handguns (Level 1) up to 7.62 mm military assault rifles (Level 8). All bullet resistant doors are tested and labeled in accordance with UL752 and constructed per SDI Level 4.
Bullet resistant doors come standard with polystyrene or mineral wool cores for interior or exterior security applications requiring bullet resistance.
The continuous bonding of the laminated core to steel face sheets provides an attractive, flat door, free of face welding marks.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
Strength, durability and ease of installation
DE-BR doors include two bullet resistant cores and are available over different levels of performance. Our Polystyrene core provides Level 1 & Level 6 resistance, while our Polystyrene with armour plating provides Levels 2-8 resistance
Square edge design allows for non-handed inventory control in local distribution. Optional lock edge bevel 1/8" over 2" (~3˚)
Hinge and lock edges are reinforced with continuous 10 gauge steel channel the full height of the door, welded at a max 5" OC
Universal standard/heavy weight hinges are used with hinge fillers to allow for easy modification from heavy to standard weight hinge preps. Levels 1, 2, 3, 6 use standard 4 1/2" hinges to 3480; Levels 4, 5, 7, 8 are prepped for a continuous geared hinge
Standard visible edges may be filled seamless, intermittently stitch welded and filled, or continuously welded and filled
Top flush and bottom inverted channels provide excellent door stability with 16 gauge steel channels, projection welded at a max 2-1/2" OC
16 gauge mortise or cylindrical lock reinforcements are of an integral type in accordance with ANSI A115 standards
Various light and louver sizes are available with integral design flush light kits standard (no glass unless noted)
Standard cold rolled steel 14 gauge skins, with optional A60 or G90 galvanealed steel for exterior superior corrosion resistance
ME-BR Frames include layers of bullet plating required for specific levels of resistance
7 gauge steel hinge reinforcement, projection welded with provisions for 4 1/2" or 5" template hinges, modified to accept heavy weight hinges by removing the spacer plate
Strike preps have a heavy 14 gauge steel strike reinforcement plate, extruded and formed equivalent of 10 gauge, projection welded with provisions for ANSI A115.1 or ANSI A115.2 strikes (4 7/8")
Backbend is 7/16", single return
Anchors available are masonry wire, masonry T, and existing opening punch and dimple. Sill anchors are included with all ME Bullet frames (welded or sill anchor)
Approvals and specified industry standards
Doors and frames are tested and labeled in accordance with UL752, performed by Intertek Testing Services
Exceeds industry standards
Republic is SDI Certified through regular audits to ensure manufacturing, performance and quality standards set by the Steel Door Institute
Overall door construction exceeds ANSI A250.8-2017 (SDI-100), the standard set by SDI specifying sizes, design, materials, construction, finishing and performance for standard commercial steel doors and frames
SDI Membership communicates compliance with industry standards including ANSI/SDI A250.8, ANSI/SDI A250.10 (Prime paint), ANSI UL 10C (Fire), UL 1784 (Air leakage), ANSI/SDI A250.4 (Physical endurance), ANSI/SDI A250.6 (Hardware reinforcing), ANSI/SDI A250.3 (Finish coatings), ASTM A653 (Galv; All Tornado products are galvanealled), ANSI A115 (Locations) and SDI 117 (Tolerances)
Doors meet the broadest fire rating requirements; they are listed for installations requiring compliance to both neutral pressure testing (ASTM E152 and UL-10B) and positive pressure standards (UL-10C)
Factory-applied baked-on rust inhibiting primer meets ANSI A250.10-2011
Typical applications
Assemblies are designed for installations such as public utility and military buildings, cashier islands and currency exchanges, cellular tower units and any other security location requiring bullet resistance.
